Trust & Compliance

Australian data, documented controls, broker-in-the-loop on every output.

Where the Data Lives

AAIS runs on either Anthropic's Claude, hosted by AWS in Sydney, or Gemini, hosted on Vertex Melbourne. Client data used by our live tools stays in Australia. Tools still in development may use additional AI models, which will be hosted in Australia before those tools launch. The Policy Library and all retrieval databases are hosted in Australia. Personal information is redacted at the source. Information retention is set at 90 days from matter closure. This architecture is consistent with Australian Privacy Principle 8 and with APRA CPS 230 operational resilience requirements.

Australian Regulatory Frame Embedded by Design

Insurance Contracts Act 1984

Every AAIS output references the applicable ICA provision, including s.54 (exclusion clauses), s.35 (standard cover), s.37 (notifications) and s.40 (claims cooperation).

General Insurance Code of Practice 2020

Claims Advisory and Claims Dispute outputs include GICOP compliance checks as a standard component.

AFCA Rules & Approach Documents

Dispute outputs are structured to AFCA's preferred format, with jurisdictional eligibility checks built into the Claims Dispute pipeline.

Corporations Act — Best Interests Duty (s.961B)

Every output generates a documented analysis trail showing the broker considered the client's interests before providing advice.

Australian Privacy Principles (APP)

AAIS runs on either Anthropic's Claude, hosted by AWS in Sydney, or Gemini, hosted on Vertex Melbourne. Personal information is redacted at the source. Retention is set at 90 days from matter closure.

How Human Oversight Works

Every AAIS output requires broker review and approval before it is delivered to a client. This is architectural, not optional. The system does not auto-send to clients. The system does not act on the client's behalf. The Authorised Representative is always identifiable as the responsible party for any client-facing output. ‘The AI decided’ is not available as a defence — by design.

How AAIS Contrasts with Generic AI

Tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini deployed via consumer APIs are capable general-purpose assistants — but they transmit user data to offshore servers under non-Australian data governance frameworks. That creates a direct APP compliance risk for an AFSL licensee or Authorised Representative who uses them on client matters without appropriate safeguards. AAIS is the only purpose-built, APP-compliant AI broking platform designed specifically for the Australian insurance broker market.
