This Cookie Notice explains how the AAIS website uses cookies and similar technologies. By using the AAIS website, you agree to our use of cookies as described below. You may control cookies through your browser settings as described in section 4.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the owners of the site.
2. The cookies the AAIS website uses
The AAIS website currently sets one strictly necessary cookie, required for the platform to function, and one functional cookie that remembers an interface preference. The AAIS website does not currently use advertising, tracking, or analytics cookies.
aais_sessionStrictly necessaryAuthenticates your session after sign-in. Contains a signed JWT that identifies your account. Required to access any part of the AAIS platform.
sidebar-expandedFunctionalRemembers whether you left the in-app navigation sidebar expanded or collapsed, so it opens the way you left it next time you sign in.
The aais_session cookie is HttpOnly (inaccessible to JavaScript) and is set with the Secure flag in production. The sidebar-expanded cookie is set by your browser via JavaScript so your sidebar preference can be restored instantly, and is not HttpOnly. Neither cookie contains personal information beyond a session identifier or an interface preference, and neither is shared with third parties for advertising purposes.
3. Third-party cookies
Some pages on the AAIS website may include content from third-party services — for example, payment processing through Stripe, and the Cloudflare Turnstile challenge used on the Contact page to screen out automated form submissions. These third parties may set their own cookies subject to their own privacy and cookie policies, which we do not control.
4. Controlling cookies
Most browsers allow you to view, manage, delete, and block cookies through their settings. Details for the most common browsers are available at aboutcookies.org. If you block the strictly necessary session cookie, parts of the AAIS website (including the ability to sign in to your account) may not function correctly. Blocking the functional sidebar cookie only resets the sidebar to its default state each visit.
5. Updates to this notice
We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time. The current version is published on the AAIS website with its effective date. If analytics or other non-essential cookies are added in future, this notice will be updated and a consent mechanism will be put in place before those cookies are set.
